A city break in Rome and a few days in the food and wine heaven of Tuscany

Majestic Rome twinned with a relaxing few days in the Tuscan countryside is an easy and diverse trip enabling you to soak up two stunning parts of Italy.  Two full days in Rome will allow for visiting the main sights, enjoying the city and savouring some delicious cuisine!  The drive itself between Rome and Tuscany is delightful, engaging all the senses and so enabling you to witness the beauty of this interesting country.

Day One

Fly to Rome Fiumicino Airport where a private transfer will be waiting to whisk you into the centre of the city and The Inn at the Spanish Steps. This beautiful boutique hotel is nestled in the heart of the city and spans several town houses along the Via Condotti, designer shopping heaven to most. At the top of the street are the famous Spanish Steps – dominated by the Trinita dei Monte church at the top with the Fontana della Barcaccia at the bottom. In springtime, just before the anniversary of Rome on 21st April, the recently cleaned steps are covered with pots of azaleas. Whilst eating is forbidden on the Spanish Steps, they are often populated with chatting students or crowds of Romans. The Inn at the Spanish Steps provides a haven of tranquillity on the doorstep of all the major sights of the city. Stay here for three nights.

Day Four

Transfer by car to Castello Banfi il Borgo in Siena nestled in the heart of the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Enjoy three nights at this beautiful original castle in Montalcino, one of the largest wine producing areas of Italy. Still a working winery, Banfi won’t disappoint with its award winning wines and stunning food.
