Renowned Italian artist, Lorenzo Quinn, has installed his latest piece of art at the beautiful Ca’Sagredo on the bank of the Grand Canal in Venice.  On display until November this year, Quinn’s support sculpture features two large hands emerging from the Grand Canal for the Venice Art Biennale 2017.  This massive sculpture aims to make a statement about the effects of global warming. Quinn, known to use body parts – and especially hands – in his sculptures, uses the gigantic limbs as a force of nature that braces the canal-side structure, both reinforcing it in the face of decay whilst at the same time suggesting a force of nature equally capable of destroying it.  This exposes fragility of our built and natural environment and its susceptibility to the forces of nature and man.

The installation will stay until the end of the Biennale (26th November). We also have Lorenzo Quinn’s operas inside the hotel which can be visited on a complimentary basis to anybody from 10.00 to 19.00 (also the installation outside is opened within this timetable).
