The Jonathan’s Journal film crew, together with a small group of travel professionals recently, recently explored Amalfi and the beautiful Miramalfi Hotel. This is what they got up to.
Following their arrival at Naples Airport the team were transferred to Hotel Miramalfi, an approximate one and a half hour journey by car. After settling in they enjoyed lunch at Hotel Restaurant Sauté, the hotel’s casual fish restaurant with the most beautiful views of Amalfi and the Mediterranean. The fare here is traditional Neopolitan and the easy access from the restaurant to the beach make it a perfect lunch option.
Executive Chef Marco Laudato then spent time with everyone after sharing the secrets of his recipes during a two hour cooking masterclass.
That evening was beautiful so dinner was enjoyed on the terrace of Donna Emma La Cucina, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant. The restaurant is perfectly located to take advantage of the gorgeous views of Amalfi. Chef Marco Laudato create exceptional traditional and contemporary dishes, typical of Campania with locally sourced ingredients.
Following breakfast the next morning, the team headed out to tour the Lemon Path. En route they visited the famous Sal de Riso to enjoy some fabulous pastries and cakes. The Lemon Path is a walk amongst fragrant lemon groves and stunning sea views. The historic trail connects the towns of Maiori and Minori. It’s an easy and scenic walk and a great way to view the beautiful coastline. Sal de Riso us well worth a stop along the way – Salvatore de Rosi is one of the most renowned pastry chefs who makes and sells incredible sweet specialities in his Amalfi
That afternoon they walked off the treats of Sal de Riso in Amalfi where they visited the Cathedral, the Cloister of Paradise, the Diocesan Museum and the Crypth followed by a stroll through Amalfi town. Amalfi attracts visitors from all over the world and has an entire coast named after it. There are many highlights of the town where ancient steps rise up to a viewpoint offering amazing views of the town and beyond.
No trip to Amalfi would be complete without experiencing Limoncello. The team visited the Cobalto factory in Amalfi where they learnt more about the sfusato Amalfitano (the famous Amalfi lemon). They also tasted local liqueurs and other local lemon sweets.
Once again, they returned to the hotel to enjoy dinner at Donna Emma La Cucina but not before trying some of barman Andrea’s killer cocktails.
They even made time to fit in a yoga session before leaving for the airport the next morning.
