Amalfi Coast and Ischia

The Amalfi Coast itself comprises some 50km of sheer cliffs and rugged shoreline offering visitors small beaches, pastel coloured fishing villages and pretty towns. Grand villas, lemon groves and terraced gardens cling to the stunning cliffs through which visitors can enjoy the most spectacular views.  Just a short boat trip off the Amalfi Coast lie three pretty islands offering another insight into the diversity of this gorgeous country.  Ischia, the largest of these three volcanic islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea, enjoys a rich history as well as the romantic Mortella Gardens, delicious cuisine simply prepared from the freshest of local ingredients and seven rejuvenating thermal parks.  Having retained it’s charm and beauty, Ischia, as so revered in Elena Ferrante’s Neopolitan novels is a must and a prefect twin to the coast of Amalfi.

Day One

Fly to Naples Airport and take a scenic two hour transfer to Positano – you could even visit the ancient city of Pompeii on the way and learn more about the devastating eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD which buried the city under a mountain of ash. At the top of the town of Positano is the beautiful, family run Villa Franca. A stunning retreat from where you can survey the busy town and the shimmering Tyrrhenian Sea below. The restaurant is quite a treat too! 3 nights here will allow you to explore the area at a leisurely pace.

Day Four

After a leisurely breakfast, take a car back to Naples and down to the port where your luggage will be looked after and you will be guided to the correct terminal for your hydrofoil to Ischia. This historic volcanic island enjoys quieter pace of life than the neighbouring island of Capri, with genuine hospitality, excellent local food, steeping history and many thermal parks to rejuvenate mind, body and soul. Stay at Garden and Villas, a privately owned property set in stunning gardens and just a 5 minute stroll to the beach. 5 nights here will leave you relaxed and rejuvenated.

Day Nine

A trip back to the port of ischia and a short hydrofoil journey back to Naples will meet your transfer back to Naples airport and your flight home.
